I hope everyone had an enjoyable and positive week. I wanted to speak to you all about the "State of Hip Hop". I grew up when hip hop when hip hop was seen as an "artform", meaning in my honest opinion ,it was about the lyrics. Now, hip hop has become whatever makes whom the most money. Hip hop decided along time ago that it was "All About The Benjamins"! "Hip hop" (and I use that term loosely) has also decided that "gangster mentality" and "hoochie-ism" will rule the day! I personally think that this "self destructive behavior" MUST END!! With that said, I would like to introduce you to this week's "monkey"....."Ignorant hip hop". "Ignorant hip hop" is running rampant. I mean with the likes of Gucci Mane, Lil Wayne, OJ the Juiceman, among others have taken hip hop back to the stone age! I could care less about Lil Wayne being called the "best rapper alive" (that title is passed around more than a prostitute on 42nd street). This "ignorant hip hop" has continued to distort and pervert the images that our children see on the TV everyday! Hip hop is now "mainstream" and for that I applaud where "she" has gone, but while hip hop has "grown up", instead of going to get its Juris Doctorate, "she" has decided to go back to "stripping" at the club to get that fast money!! We are all to blame...We support this "tomfoolery" and will make up any excuse in the book just because we don't want to face FACTS!!! |

An 18-year-old Hofstra University student by the name of Danmell Ndonye claimed, one night, five men, which included another Hofstra University student, forcefully took her cell phone and lured her into a men’s dormitory. Afterward, she stated all men sexually assaulted her until the following early Sunday morning. However, sources say a video captured by a cell phone revealed the incident taking place and left officials questioning whether it was truly a case of rape after viewing it. By then, four of the accused men (Jesus Ortiz, Kevin Taveras, Stalin Felipe, and Rondell Bedward) had already been arrested and detained in a Nassau County Jail while awaiting arraignments on rape and other charges. When Ndonye was asked to explain, she recanted her story and admitted the sexual intercourse with the men was consensual. Once this information was revealed, all four men were released from jail with charges dropped. Now, Ndonye faces suspension from Hofstra University and criminal charges for false accusations.

Good evening, family. I hope you are all doing something positive with your weekend. For the past week, I have been engaged in some of the most engaging conversations with highly intelligent and highly motivated individuals that I have ever come across. (shout to my brothers @iluvblackwomen and @GoodFathersOnly and everyone that listened to "DaddyTalk" this past Wednesday). I'm of the perception that black people DON'T WANT to change. The question I keep asking myself is ,"Why not?" Is it because we have been so inundated with negative imagery that its all we know? Is it that we have just accepted our circumstances and decided that's all we will ever be? or are we just TIRED? We are all to blame. (Yes, I said it) You see, there was a time in black history that we believed in the family.
