By now, we are all aware how Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr., an African-American Harvard professor, was arrested for disorderly conduct by a Sergeant James Crowley of the Cambridge Police Department.  It is highly understandable that a man of Dr. Gates caliber would be upset after being accused of burglarizing his own home.  The ambience was guaranteed to become more intense when commanded by a law enforcement authority (Crowley) to provide proof of his residence.  Even though the incident is an apparent case of racial profiling and the charges were dropped, President Obama attempted to downplay the controversial upheaval by inviting both Gates and Crowley to the White House for a beer.

Idiot cop who sent out a racist email calling Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr. a No apologies were exchanged, but Gates and Crowley look forward to speaking with each other again in the near future.  Perhaps, they will even become friends.  This optimistic outlook was shrouded when another police officer of the Boston Police department sent out a massive email describing Gates as talking “jungle monkey-gibberish” to Crowley.  Officer Justin Barrett’s rhetoric was deemed as racist by his superiors and Commissioner Ed Davis immediately placed him on administrative leave pending a termination hearing.  In addition, the Army National Guard has moved to alleviate Barrett of his membership with them as well.   Barrett once held the rank of captain with the Guard but will no longer be affiliated because the Guard doesn’t want his comments to be a reflection of that particular branch in the armed forces.  So this douche bag pretty much canned his whole career and has nobody to blame but himself.

The action of Justin Barrett further reinforces the genuine claims of racial profiling African-Americans make in America.  President Obama would undoubtedly be appropriate in declaring Barrett’s gesture in sending out such a racist email as acting “stupidly”.  An even better descriptive word would be “nonsensical”. People have the God-given freedom to think however they feel.  If Barrett wants to be a racist – fine – he can be racist…just know he cannot spew the kind of garbage he wrote in that email and sent to people.  Keep those divisive and hurtful comments to yourself!  And even if he did, does it make sense?  Of course, there are not a lot but there are some African-American police officers with the city of Boston.  So why would a person talk about their own colleagues like this?  It doesn’t make any sense!  Secondly, the people who turned Barrett in were the fellow police officers Barrett sent his racist email to.  They were offended, but it could have been for different reasons.  Some of those officers may have friends who are African-American cops; some may just have friends who are African-American; some may just have family members who are African-American; lastly, some probably turned Barrett in because they just felt his comments were a misrepresentation of the Boston Police Department.

Officer Justin Barrett will be able to become a cop again.  It just won’t be in a metropolitan city like Boston, D.C, Jersey City, or Baltimore.  He’ll have to get on with a department in the “sticks” or hick towns like Boise, Idaho, making 30 grand a year.  It was reported that he never had any disciplinary issues during his two years with the Boston Police.  Nonetheless, his lesson learned is to just keep his mouth shut about sensitive topics pertaining to stories of discriminatory treatment endured by Black Americans – regardless of how strongly his own opposition may be…
