It has been months since DTM’s modeling sect has been updated. Despite this hiatus, we our proud of how our newest model’s, Joyleena, photographs turned out. Usually, I always have the pleasure of personally meeting with the models we work with. By Joyleena being an Atlanta, GA, native who still resides in her hometown to this day, and my recent relocation to the West Coast, this creates quite a hindrance when wanting a face-to-face interview. As a result, there was only one sensible way left to conduct it.
After inadvertently playing phone tag a few times with each other, Joyleena and me were finally able to touch base. She sounded very kind, sweet, and sincere over the phone. When I asked her what it was like to work with DTM’s tenured photographer, Gordon A. Onukogu, she responded that it was an enjoyable challenge due to posing at various angles in order to capture a certain style and look. Joyleena has always been interested in modeling for numerous reasons, but the number one reason is because she said it gives her the opportunity to portray personae she may not ultimately have or be. The 21-year-old woman further informed me about her interests and her current enrollment at Kennesaw State University as a sophomore.

When I first meet Ms. Iminah Ahmad, I was greeted with a young lady who was rockin rollers and ”Juicy” sweatpants. Don’t ask me why I read that, but I was taken aback by her vivacious personality. When she was finally ready, she was a joy to work with.
Iminah was born in Oakland to a family with 21 brothers and sisters from Jamaica to California. Amongst her siblings, the Rastafarian princess was the first to graduate from college. She attended the HBCU Spellman and graduated with a degree in Political Science at the age of 21. Currently she works as manager at a leading IT company in Atlanta. She aspires to become a TV personality. I can see that, she has been heavily involved with the movers and shakers here in Atlanta. |

The first Nubian model to grace Double Take Magazine is none other than the lovely Ms. Amanda, also known by the nickname Bird. She first became an affiliate of the DTM staff back in 2006 during our development stages. Initially, our modeling sector was supposed to be a separate entity from DTM. At this time, several photo shoots with Ms. Bird were conducted. Before the pictures could be released, expanding our repertoire with numerous other models became the first priority. However, they were never revealed to the public due to difficulties in contractual agreements with follow-up models. But it is not like Ms. Bird is an amateur of some sort. She has received a large amount of opportunities from other various modeling agencies. So it was definitely an honorary pleasure in working with her. |
