joyleenaIt has been months since DTM’s modeling sect has been updated.  Despite this hiatus, we our proud of how our newest model’s, Joyleena, photographs turned out.  Usually, I always have the pleasure of personally meeting with the models we work with.  By Joyleena being an Atlanta, GA, native who still resides in her hometown to this day, and my recent relocation to the West Coast, this creates quite a hindrance when wanting a face-to-face interview.  As a result, there was only one sensible way left to conduct it.

After inadvertently playing phone tag a few times with each other, Joyleena and me were finally able to touch base.  She sounded very kind, sweet, and sincere over the phone.  When I asked her what it was like to work with DTM’s tenured photographer, Gordon A. Onukogu, she responded that it was an enjoyable challenge due to posing at various angles in order to capture a certain style and look.  Joyleena has always been interested in modeling for numerous reasons, but the number one reason is because she said it gives her the opportunity to portray personae she may not ultimately have or be.  The 21-year-old woman further informed me about her interests and her current enrollment at Kennesaw State University as a sophomore.

After college graduation, she would like to venture into the human resource area of corporate America and, one day, be a business consultant.  While she told me how much she also enjoys dancing and different tastes in music, I heard the sounds of an infant in the background.  That was when she told me she especially loves motherhood.  “Amirah” is her daughter’s name.  Joyleena said it means “bold princess”.  Needless to say, Joyleena cherishes the opportunity to model when not attending to her child, work, or school studies.

As far as idolizing goes, Joyleena looks up to supermodel Tyra Banks because of her tenacity to explore different business avenues besides just modeling.

DTM looks forward to possibly working with Joyleena again in the future.  If any other photographers have new ideas they would like to share with her, Joyleena can be reached at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
