1.jpgIt was a pleasure in making an acquaintance with Ayaba Valerie D’Almeida. At first, she seemed very refined and conservative, which wasn’t surprising once we learned more about her intriguing background. Because of her career goals, she maintains a strong academic record at Clayton State University with hopes of, one day, gaining entry to MCG (Medical College of Georgia). Taking up dentistry is a goal of hers. As a current undergraduate major in biology of her junior year, she is attending classes for her most rigorous course as of yet – Comparative Vertebrae Anatomy. While Valerie has been prevalently successful in her studies, she has had to deal with quite a bit of nostalgia.

Originally from Togo, she left along with the rest of her family for the US – Atlanta, GA area to be exact - at age fourteen. However, throughout the years she has learned to cope with her new found residence. Now at age 20, she still yearns to visit her homeland soon, though. Until then, modeling is a form of expression for Valerie.

In all honesty, she appeared to be a novice model from the start as she had already admitted on her model mayhem page to a certain degree. But during her photo shoot in downtown Covington, GA, great potentiality resonated in her poses. Her portrait shots were astonishing. When articulating her sentiments while conversing, she mentioned considerable interest in working behind the motion camera as well – perhaps, as a spokes model for DTM. Throughout the remainder of the shoot – particularly in her more sophisticated apparel – she increasingly impressed us as her gestures became more creative.

Besides modeling, it seems shopping department stores like Dillard’s and Macy’s at the mall was her next major recreation. And as an international lover of music, she wasn’t the most expertly inclined regarding underground Hip-Hop. In addition, she was pretty apathetic about politics, too. But she did express that she was open to doing voluntary work and supporting the community whenever the opportunity to do so arises.

Another attribute in her repertoire was her ability to speak Ewe and French. The latter of the two is the native language of her West African origin. Even though she never spoke any during our appointment – like we would have ever understood any…well, maybe a little – this was confirmed by the apparent abbreviated ending of her Yahoo email address.

Valerie was definitely the ambivert after getting to know her. Working with her again in the future is highly probable.
